Miami heat Miami heat It seemed inevitable for the Detroit Pistons, and it officially happened on Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets. The Pistons set an NBA record for most consecutive losses in a season after losing their 27th straight game despite 41 points from star guard Cade Cunningham. That’s in stark contrast to the Miami Heat, who had a 27-game winning streak in 2012-13. It was the second longest single-season winning streak in league history, behind only the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. Whether it was blowouts or double-digit comebacks, the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were up to the task this season en route to the 2013 championship. Unfortunately, Detroit cannot share the same success as they are now on track to finish at the bottom of the league for the second year in a row. They have been reduced to memes and constant derision, especially compared to their NFL counterparts. The Lions, who played just 17 games in 2023, outscored the Pistons all year. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier as they face the league leader Boston Celtics (23-6) on Thursday night. Meanwhile, the Heat face the Golden State Warriors on Thursday as they look to extend their three-game winning streak. Who knows? Maybe they’ll go on another 27-game winning streak this season.
