BREAKING NEWS Liverpool could steal one of the four players Erik ten Hag asked Man Utd badge

Liverpool could be  One of the four players, Erik ten Hag, asked Manchester United to sign earlier this year.

United are unlikely to do any major business in the upcoming January transfer window as the club’s chief executive Colette Roche said the same about a recent fan and  forum They spent big in the summer, bringing in Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana for over £150 million. Although Hojlund was the more expensive of the trio, the Dane had yet to set foot in the Premier League until he scored his first home goal in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day. But while United struggled for goals ahead of the match – their 18 Premier League goals this season were more than just Sheffield United – they also failed to keep clean sheets at the other end. And with the center back injury crisis sidelining Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane at different times in recent months, Ten Hag had to find different solutions. According to the Daily Mirror, one of those solutions was to enter the transfer market, with Sporting Lisbon star Goncalo Inacio on the list of four players. But according to Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias, the left-footed centre-back, who is said to have a £52million release clause, has been linked with a move to Liverpool. Having produced consistently impressive performances for Sporting over several seasons, Inacio is used to operating on the left side of a back three in Portugal. Liverpool have their own injury problems in defence, with the left back currently unfit and Virgil van Dijk therefore lacking cover at centre-back. Natural centre-back Joe Gomez is currently operating in both full-back roles in practice while Andy Robertson recovers from a shoulder injury. Inacio could become a long-term replacement for Van Dijk, who turns 33 in July, while the pair could also play in the same team as the Dutchman is naturally right-handed. United went into Christmas having lost four of their last seven games in all competitions, leaving them eighth in the Premier League table. A lackluster performance in a 2-0 defeat to West Ham on 23 December – a fourth consecutive clean sheet – added to the pressure on Ten Hag. But while United were praised for their defensive work in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool earlier this month, it was at the other end where the team’s struggles were stark. United had scored just 18 league goals before their Boxing Day match against Aston Villa, with only 20th-placed Sheffield United (15) scoring fewer. One player who cannot be blamed for that statistic is striker Amad Diallo, who impressed on loan at Championship side Sunderland last season but missed the entire season with a knee injury. However, the Ivory Coast international has now recovered and could play an important role for United in the upcoming matches. But according to Football Insider, United probably and#039; accept loan offers for the winger from suitable clubs, despite claims he will get a first-team opportunity at Old Trafford. A source stated that Amad is both unlikely and break into the starting line-up at this stage – which may surprise fans given United’s indifferent attacking form. In-form Championship side Southampton are one of Amadi’s main suitors, while former club Sunderland are also said to be interested. The Black Cats shed the services of manager Tony Mowbray this month and the former West Brom and Middlesbrough boss was a key factor in Amad development last season. He will be replaced by Michael Beale, who was sacked by Rangers – another of Amads former clubs. Erik ten Hag’s men endured a difficult start to the season. United are seventh in the Premier League, around six points adrift of the top four, while bottom of their Champions League group. Such form can partly be attributed to a lackluster attack, with Marcus Rashford and Antony in particular struggling to make meaningful contributions up front. Antony, who cost United £86m in 2022, has scored zero goals and provided zero assists in 18 appearances across three competitions this year. And now it has been revealed the extent to which United overpaid to sign the Brazilian, who scored just 11 goals during his time at Old Trafford. Athletic claimed that in the summer of 2022, Ten Hag felt they needed an extra striker and there was general agreement within the United hierarchy to target Antony. The publication claimed that under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United scouts made reports that the club valued Antony at around £25m. Months later, during Ten Hag’s pursuit of the winger, it was reported that United had broken off talks with Ajax and privately said they would not pay more than £60m. In the final days of the window, desperate to set up Old Trafford, United agreed a fee of £86 million From Ajax
