Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool will have to break the bank to acquire the services of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa are ready to sanction the departure of Douglas Luiz for a fee of around £100 million. The 25-year-old midfielder is on the radar of Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool. As things stand, there could be an intense battle between the three teams for his services after the end of the 2023-24 season.

Things might not have worked out for Luiz at Manchester City but he has surely done wonders since joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2019. He has gone from strength to strength over the years at the club. And, ever since Unai Emery took charge, the 25-year-old has been playing on another.

He is one of the most important players in this Villa team and his impressive performances have skyrocketed his value. And, some of the biggest clubs in world football now want the Brazil international in their ranks. While he is a very important player to them, he could still end up parting ways in the summer

Emery has already talked about the fact that if they get a great offer for any of their top players, Villa will look to sell in order to ensure they improve their position in terms of Financial Fair Play. Luiz is one of their most prized possessions but with only two years left on his deal in the summer, the Midlands giants will not miss out on an opportunity to cash in on him.

Villa will demand a fee of £100 million and will point towards the recent big-money sales of Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice when setting the asking price. Meanwhile, Arsenal, Barcelona and LiverpoolLiverpool are three clubs interested in his signatures.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old and they did try to sign him in the summer of 2022. But, both their bids were rejected. Mikel Arteta’s team are still interested in having him in their ranks and could make a move next summer.

Liverpool’s midfield overhaul has done wonders for them in the ongoing season. But, they still need another quality midfielder and Luiz will be a perfect fit as he can play in a defensive role as well as a central midfielder.

While Liverpool and Arsenal are keen, both clubs could face competition from Barcelona. The Catalan giants will look for further reinforcement in the summer and the 25-year-old could be of great use. But, the financial side of things could become a challenge for the Spanish giants.
