The Hoops boss is in the market for further reinforcements before the end of the January window

Brendan Rodgers has urged Celtic fans to be patient with Nicolas Kuhn the only January addition so far.

The Scottish champions are in the market for another left-back and striker as they look to bolster their squad for a crucial second half of the campaign. A goalkeeper is also on Rodgers’ wishlist but it’s understood a new shotstopper won’t be signed until the summer.

Experienced Rodgers knows it can be difficult to land top targets in the winter window, with transfer prices at a premium. And while the Northern Irishman is hopeful of one or two new faces coming through the door before February 1, he won’t hit the panic button if his squad remains as it is.

He said: “It’s about getting the right players in. You can easily bring players in. But sometimes it takes a bit of time and patience. We’ve got the winger we wanted and there are some other positions we want to improve. If the players are available and we can do a deal, then great. If not we’ll move on to the summer.”

Rodgers is short of firepower up front, with Kyogo and Oh his only recognised strikers. However, the Hoops boss admits any new signing is likely to play second fiddle to Kyogo.

He said: “It’s an area we have to look at. It’s the balance between bringing someone in to challenge while acknowledging that’s a difficult sell to someone when Kyogo has been fantastic here. Or is it a young player who comes in with the potential to improve and get better.”
