JUST IN:After a loss, Joe Mazzulla contrasts the Celtics with the Clippers.

Jrue Holiday of the Celtics doesn’t back down following a humiliating loss to the Clippers

The Boston Celtics were humiliated on Saturday as they fell to the Los Angeles Clippers 115-96 inside TD Garden. After the game, star Jrue Holiday spoke openly with the media about how hot the Celtics have been at the top of the Eastern Conference.

To put it frankly, according to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Holiday labeled the loss to the Clippers a “good old-fashioned a**-whooping” in which Boston’s shot-making was out of the ordinary and Los Angeles played to their strengths. The Celtics made 25% of their three-point attempts and 36% of their field goals.

Holiday described it as “a good old-fashioned a**-whooping.” “They seemed to be a step ahead; they were better at everything—rebounding, transitioning, and 50/50 balls.”

Holiday continued by discussing their lack of success in making shots and stating they had plenty of chances to win this game. He said that when the offense collapsed, the defense did too, which allowed the Clippers to seize the initiative and win the game.

To be honest, I believe we had a lot of nice shots, especially in the beginning. Many open-minded photos. I missed them, said Holiday. At the end of the day, you still have to take them, even though I believe that occasionally it kind of hampers our defense. It appears awful even when they’re not falling, but you just need to have the courage to keep shooting them.

This defeat can be viewed as “humbling” for a club like the Celtics, who have been on a high since the start of the season. Given that the game was being played on their home court, where they have enjoyed such success this season, it was unquestionably for Holiday.

It’s really humble, I believe, to be able to sort of arrive

Following the game, Joe Mazzulla, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, also made a comparison between the Clippers and Boston in terms of how each team plays its particular play style. He mentions the physicality of both teams, their “switchable wings,” and other things.

According to Mazzulla, “you’re not going to score against a good defensive team if you’re not going to make open shots.” “I believe that’s the reason the Clippers are among the – they’re quite comparable. Like our squads are really similar. They are two extremely comparable teams because they have physicality, switchable wings, and no obvious mismatch that can be attacked to create two-on-one opportunities. For that reason, we kind of repaid them for what they did to us tonight a month ago.

The Celtics are still 35-11, which is respectable for the top team in the Eastern Conference, if there is any silver lining. Monday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans will be their next chance to regroup.
