Michigan Wolverines Lose Defensive Lineman To The Transfer Portal
The Michigan Wolverines are learning to live life without Jim Harbaugh. While the promotion of offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore helped stabilize the program, many changes are on the horizon. One of the changes that will happen with the program is players leaving. Defensive lineman Reece Atteberry was the first Michigan player to hit the transfer portal.
Attebury has played in all 24 games in his Michigan career. He has played on both offense and defense. When he came to the program, Attebury was thought to be the center of the future. However, he never could find his footing and ended up switching to the defensive line. He was a rotational piece there and could never seem to crack the starting lineup. Attebury will leave Ann Arbor to look for an opportunity to start.
It is shocking that Attebury is the first player to leave. He wasn’t a starter, so the loss doesn’t hurt as much if you are a Michigan fan. Normally, in these situations, players flock to the portal, and recruits revoke their commitment. We haven’t seen that with this program. It speaks to what the players think about Moore. It also may have something to do with many starters going to the NFL. This leaves many starting positions open, and players could be eager to start for one of the biggest programs in the nation.
