Lakers injury report: LeBron James, star listed for Celtics game

Plenty of eyes will be in Boston as the Celtics and Lakers renew their historic rivalry at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at TD Garden. The C’s are healthy on their injury report as they only list backup big man Luke Kornet as doubtful. Notably, neither Al Horford or Kristaps Porzingis are listed after recent missed games.

It’s not as great on the Lakers’ side, though, as both stars LeBron James (Left Ankle Peroneal Tendinopathy) and Anthony Davis (Bilateral Achilles Tendinopathy) are listed as questionable. Cam Reddish (right ankle sprain) and Gabe Vincent (left knee surgery) are also both out for Thursday’s game.

The Lakers have been stuck in the mud since their in-season tournament crown, coming in with 24-25 and tied for ninth in the West. With the trade deadline next week, there are predictably plenty of murmurs as the front office looks to pick up pieces around James and Davis. The Lakers are also just 7-17 away from home as they’ve struggled this season after a West Finals appearance last year.

The Celtics have continued to soar — especially amid a struggling East. The Bucks have lost three of their last four games while the 76ers are on a four-game win streak. That’s led to resurgent Knicks and Cavaliers squads to boost themselves to third and fourth in the East, respectively. On the flip side, that has also meant the 37-11 Celtics have a five-game lead in the East on the second-place Bucks.

The last time the two teams met was on Christmas Day, which was a 126-115 win for the C’s. The Lakers erased an early Boston lead, only for the Celtics to pull away down the stretch. Now the two teams will meet on the parquet Thursday.
