A new name has emerged in defensive coordinator interviews.

In interviews with defensive coordinators, a new name has surfaced. After meeting with the Giants last week, Daronte Jones, the coach of the Vikings’ defensive backs, has earned the chance to interview for a defensive coordinator post in the NFL, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The interview took place in Mobile, Alabama, where Jones was the defensive coordinator for the National team.

A fresh name has emerged in defensive coordinator interviews. Jones, the National team’s defensive coordinator, conducted the interview in Mobile, Alabama.

Jones began his first job in Minnesota as a defensive backs coach after serving two years as head coach of Cincinnati. He was only in that position for a single year before leaving to take a position at LSU as defensive coordinator. This was his first D1 coordinator position; he had previously served as a defensive coordinator for Franklin High School and Bowie State.

Jones went back to his former position with the Vikings after his only season as the Tigers defensive coordinator ended without him being retained. He was elevated to the position of defensive pass game coordinator in the most recent year. When it came to allowing passing yards, Minnesota would rank 24th.
