Luke Getsy is anticipated to join as the Raiders’ next offensive coordinator.
Once more, the Raiders from Las Vegas have found their man. Sports Illustrated reports that the Raiders would likely appoint Luke Getsy, the Chicago Bears’ dismissed offensive coordinator on January 10, as their new offensive coordinator.
This occurs just hours after Kliff Kingsbury withdrew from consideration for the position and is now purportedly in negotiations to take over as the Washington Commanders’ head offensive coordinator. Five applicants were interviewed by Las Vegas for the position, including Getsy, Kingsbury, former offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns Alex Van Pelt, head coach of the UCLA Bruins Chip Kelly, and receivers coach Mike Sullivan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Antonio Pierce, head coach of the New Raiders, stated that he was looking for an offensive coordinator that could not only score 24 points per game on average but also be an excellent instructor.
Though Getsy’s Bears passing offense was bottom in 2022 (130.5 yards per game) and only marginally improved to 27th last season (182.1), it tells only part of Getsy’s tale. After recovering from a finger injury, Getsy’s former Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been linked to Las Vegas as a potential trade destination. Fields played admirably throughout the second part of the season.
After Fields returned, Chicago won 4-3, but the Bears were competitive in every game they played. In addition to rushing 77 times for 420 yards and three touchdowns, the third-year quarterback completed 127 of 208 passes for 1,361 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Green Bay boasted a top-five passing attack in Adams’ first season as receivers coach, and during Getsy’s last two seasons with the team, they had the ninth-best passing yard average.
Both Pierce and new general manager Tom Telesco want Las Vegas to have a strong vertical team that can run the ball well. Getsy’s attack flourished there in Chicago, finishing as the top running unit in 2022 (177.3) and second this year (141.1).
