Leeds United defeated Plymouth Argyle at Home Park Friday night in extra time to secure their spot in the FA Cup fifth round.
To defeat Championship opponents Plymouth Argyle, Leeds United required a replay, and they had to earn it. Wilfried Gnonto’s opener was followed by an equalizer from Brendan Galloway, which forced the Pilgrims into extra time.
But in extra time, the Whites took charge and won 4-1 in the end. Their position in the fifth round was secured with goals by Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, and an own goal by Ryan Hardie. They will play Chelsea or Aston Villa.
Additionally, Daniel Farke fielded a formidable team for the Tuesday night match. One noteworthy development, though, was that Mateo Joseph, 20, made his first senior start of the season. He played for eighty-one minutes, and the media praised his performance.
