Good beginning point: Maxime Esteve’s encouraging debut is assessed by Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.

In the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Fulham, the 21-year-old had an impressive debut for the Clarets, coming off the bench at halftime.

At the moment, Kompany’s team was behind by two goals, but David Fofana’s heroics allowed the French center back to assist the home team rally and earn a late point.

Before the transfer window closed, Burnley gave permission for Connor Roberts and Anass Zaroury to go. They went on loan to Leeds United and Hull City, respectively.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has explained why he allowed right-back Roberts and forward Anass Zaroury to leave Turf Moor during the January transfer window. Roberts, who is still waiting to make his United debut, is traveling with the rest of the Whites squad for tonight’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Plymouth Argyle but is not allowed to play in the match.

Zaroury, though, was thrust into action right away for City’s victory over Millwall at home. The Tigers were pushed back into the playoffs by their win.

Prior to the transfer window closing, Burnley, who are presently in second place in the Premier League, strengthened their roster by adding David Fofana, Maxime Esteve, and Lorenz Assignon. Kompany questioned the Clarets at the window, saying, “The three in? You witnessed their actions against Fulham.
