The Detroit Lions aren’t expected to have any compensatory picks in the April draft for the second year in a row.
The compensatory pick equation in the NFL Draft allocates picks to groups in light of gains and misfortunes in the earlier year’s free organization. In 2022, the Detroit Lions got three compensatory picks that transformed into Kerby Joseph, James Mitchell and James Houston in that draft. Last year, they didn’t get any.

The Lions were more forceful in 2023 free organization, outstandingly marking Cameron Sutton, David Montgomery, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Emmanuel Moseley, Graham Glasgow and Marvin Jones. On the other hand, they lost Jamaal Williams, D.J. Chark, Evan Brown, and Mike Hughes in particular.
We realize the Lions will have pick No. 29 in the principal round this year, with their excess picks probably near where they’ll really be once all the compensatory picks are granted.
Nineteen teams are expected to draft without any compensatory picks in April, according to Over The Cap. Lions are one.
