Because Watt outperformed his division rival in counting stats this season, Steelers supporters are furious. However, Myles Garrett does have the advantage due to his sophisticated stats and thoughts like pressures and rushes.
I’m not sure why, with so many variables left out, Steelers supporters don’t see that sack totals alone are a terrible indicator of pass-rushing effectiveness. It is also necessary to take into account double team rate, system, alignment, and player duties. Not to mention hurries, a measurable statistic that helps the defense as well.
