Jerry Mack, the coach of the Tennessee running backs, may be entering the NFL.

A few rumors this afternoon suggest that Tennessee may lose an offensive assistant to the NFL. Jerry Mack has been in communication with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mack has been Tennessee’s running backs coach since Josh Heupel came in 2021.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Mack is a target to take over that staff position.

Mack talked with the Dallas Cattle rustlers last season about their opening on staff. He’s created interest indeed during this cycle, and could take the jump toward the expert side this time around.

Heupel hired Mack as head coach of North Carolina Central in 2021. Before that, Mack was a hostile organizer for Rice. In a developing pattern that we’ve seen throughout the entire offseason, the requesting enlisting schedule and muddled Nothing/move entry circumstances have school mentors shifting focus over to NFL choices like never before previously.

Jaylen Wright, Jabari Small, and Dylan Sampson are all products of Mack’s influence. He has also been helpful in the recruiting process, securing commitments from Cam Seldon and Peyton Lewis, both four-star prospects.

Tennessee positioned ninth in hurrying yards per game for the 2023 season. Wright wound up going more than 1,000 yards for the year, en route to turning into a mid-round draft prospect for the impending 2024 NFL Draft.

Since moving to Knoxville, Josh Heupel hasn’t had to deal with a lot of staff turnover. He’s supplanted Kodi Consumes at beneficiaries mentor and Alex Golesh at hostile organizer — the twice brought about a basic advancement from the inside.
