Video of Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump’s talk, which ended with the Rocket crying after winning the 2022 World Snooker Championship final, has surfaced. Before the two had a long embrace and O’Sullivan secured his eighth title, the superstar broke down in tears.
At the Crucible, O’Sullivan won an exciting match 18–13, but just after winning, he gave his opponent a lengthy hug in which he found it difficult to contain his excitement. The two greatest snooker players in the world have a great deal of respect for one another, as demonstrated by their embrace.
After the historic victory in Sheffield, a year and a half later, O’Sullivan’s Amazon video revealed their chat. O’Sullivan said to Trump, “Enjoy your snooker, don’t let them burn you out.” The Rocket assured him that he wouldn’t, and O’Sullivan went on, “Pick and choose.” Alright, you’re too good to let these f****** own you.
“Thank you for letting me practice with you,” was Trump’s next response. Everything, even the exhibitions. I genuinely appreciate that you took the time to speak with me. O’Sullivan responded, “Listen, you’re a good boy.” I’ll make time for you no matter what. I admire you; you’re a kind man, and your family is intelligent.”
Trump kept showering compliments on everyone, saying, “Thank you, okay. I adore you, dude. Good job. Enjoy yourself, greatest accomplishment, all-time great player. Man, I f****** adore you. Fantastic work, guy. F****** amazing. And so much laborious work.”
Holding Trump, O’Sullivan was unable to contain her feelings and sobbed, adding, “I can’t believe it.” Thanking Trump for letting him know that he deserves all the praise, he said, “It f****** kills me.”
Trump remarked, “Mate, you’re amazing.” “The commitment, the effort, the whole lot, buddy. Man, you deserve everything—f******. You’re the best, friend; you’ve always looked out for me. Everyone is extremely proud of you, buddy. F****** everyone. With the support of your entire team, go celebrate with your loved ones, have fun, and know that I adore you. Excellent work, well done.
Even though Trump lost the World Championship at the last hurdle, he was kind enough to give O’Sullivan his flowers and pay tribute to the all-time great snooker player. These kinds of moments are what make Trump endearing to O’Sullivan, as he clarified why he was so moved to embrace his opponent.
“I just thought it would never happen to get over the line,” O’Sullivan said to Eurosport. I sobbed in Trump’s arms as I gave him a strong hug. And what beautiful words he spoke.
To be honest, I was blown away by what he said to me. It truly astounded me. I cherish Judd. I adore him; he’s a wonderful boy, and up until that point, I had no idea what he thought of me. I thought there was a distinct level of respect there. I had no idea how he perceived me or how I had contributed to his growth.
“Having someone like Judd, playing the way he does, is fantastic for snooker. There will be some more, like Zhao, the winner of the UK Championship; it’s going to be amazing. Sharing the stage made me proud; I believe that was my best performance to far. Judd, what he said has completely destroyed me.
