Alvin Henderson, a Top247 tailback, is rapidly becoming the new RB coach Matt Merritt’s main focus.
Alvin Henderson, the Elba (Ala.) Top247 running back, was the first person Matt Merritt, the new Miami running backs coach, spoke with on his official Hurricane arrival on Wednesday.
One of the main objectives of the program at the position has always been the record-breaking tailback. That was the situation while Tim Harris Jr. was in charge of the space, and it most definitely remained that way after he departed. Even with Merritt involved, it won’t.
Miami is not listed in the preseason Top 25, and league coaches predicted the team to finish fourth in the ACC Coastal Division, so there aren’t many high expectations for the 2024 Miami Hurricanes under first-year head coach J.D. Arteaga.
For the 2024 college football season, the ACC will have three additional members when SMU, California, and Stanford join the league, extending its reach as a coast-to-coast conference. Even while none of those clubs are expected to win conference titles right away, they increase the ACC’s membership to 17 teams and strengthen its depth.
However, the best team in the conference has a chance to qualify multiple teams each year for the expanded College Football Playoff. Florida State came just short of securing a position in the four-team field from the previous year, but Clemson boasts two recent national titles. Although that team easily dominates the rest of the league, a few programs in their wake are ready to challenge for a postseason spot.
Using on-field performance, program stability, talent acquisition, and resource pools as criteria, Late Kick host Josh Pate evaluated the strength of every ACC football team over the previous three years to determine each program’s standing in the conference standings.
The Pate ACC program power rankings are as follows:
Pate: “You’re talking about attempting to differentiate between Cal, Boston College, and Virginia when we get to Tier 5 of the ACC. Cal has had three losing seasons, after all. Whatever the value of that is, they have consistently ranked in the top 30 on the portal. Bill O’Brien was been appointed head coach of Boston College. Alright. No seasons with ten or more wins in Virginia since 1989. Not a legitimate sign of life there as of yet. I’m not sure.
“Georgia Tech could jump big, now,” said Pate. Brent Key noticed that Georgia Tech’s program was beginning to come together last year after it had been stagnant for a long. You could convince me that Georgia Tech will move up two divisions this year with ease. The class they have the most of since 2020 is entering. This past year, they went from 3–9 to 5-7 to 7–6. Thus, everything are heading in the proper way. Troy Taylor, second year at Stanford. I’m not sure how to interpret the state of affairs. Possibly a growing program
