The insane proposal by the Las Vegas Raiders to trade a $140 million star.
The 32-year-old Davante Adams might not fit the Raiders’ current rebuilding schedule in Las Vegas. It’s unclear if the seasoned wideout will be content with the team’s current direction with the addition of new coaches.
Having said that, the Raiders might gain more by dealing Adams and selecting higher in the 2024 NFL Draft, allowing them to select a younger wide receiver with a higher upside who would better match their schedule.
Aaron Schatz of ESPN highlighted that the Raiders may send Adams and the 13th overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for the 4th overall pick.
The Raiders could then select Ohio State great Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall choice. It makes sense for both sides since the Cardinals receive another reliable weapon for Kyler Murray and Las Vegas gains a highly-touted young talent who can make an immediate impact.
Not to add, Arizona might select a player that can strengthen their defense with the 13th pick they receive.
Adams, is he content in Las Vegas? Yes, he responds, but with a new coaching staff, things might be different. Given that Adams turns 32 this year, it might make sense for the Raiders to let go of him and his lucrative deal. Could we try to replace Adams with Harrison, the highly sought-after wide receiver?
“The Cardinals may strengthen their receiving group with Adams and improve their league-worst defense starting in 2023 by making a significant trade up the selection board. At a rookie-contract wage, the Raiders might acquire the best receiving prospect in years.
If the Raiders are able to complete the trade with the Cardinals, it will be a very exciting game to watch. If they do, though, it will be a huge victory.
The key question at hand is whether Davante Adams will be content to join the Arizona Cardinals, who have only once in the past eight years made it to the postseason. Adams is the kind of guy who always wants to compete, so if Arizona keeps losing, he might want to make a move.
Adams’ trade value may not be as high as what the Cardinals give up for him in the aforementioned trade scenario with the Las Vegas Raiders, given that he is also getting older.
