Matvei Michkov is expected to sign with the Philadelphia Flyers within the month, if not sooner, according to an interview.
After being uploaded on Wednesday, a brief 32-second video of Michkov being interviewed by “BreadSport” appeared online on Friday. Michkov appeared to become upset at the interviewer’s questions regarding his involvement in the Russian Media Hockey League competition, and he then disclosed the date or dates that he will be traveling to North America to join the Flyers.
“I am now departing on the 20th.” Michkov shrugged and said, “I’m flying away, as if God forbid things works out here.
To put things in perspective even further, the Media Hockey League is a non-competitive summer league best comparable to something like Da Beauty League, a 4-on-4 hockey league that features NHL and PWHL players and donates its profits to different charities.
“I don’t know whether (the Flyers) know of its existence or not,” Michkov told the interview of the Media Hockey League. “I just came with my friends to play hockey. After all, it’s a holiday.”
Even if the Flyers knew of the league’s existence, it’s unlikely any problems would come of it. Bobby Brink, Noah Cates, and Ryan Poehling are all playing in Da Beauty League so that precedent has already been established.
As far as our business here goes, it’s unclear when “the 20th” is, as Michkov himself stated. That could be July 20th, which is Saturday, or Aug. 20th, which is roughly one more month away.

However, we must exercise patience and wait to see what the next hours, days, and weeks have in store. Furthermore, should Michkov be planning a trip on Saturday, it’s probable that the Microsoft information technology disruptions may cause some alterations to his travel schedule.
