A’ja Wilson Used One Word To Describe Kate Martin After Concerning Injury
Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin may have dodged a bullet after suffering what originally appeared to be a scary leg injury in the 93-85 loss to the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night.
Martin went down with around a minute left in the first quarter with a non-contact injury. She instantly grabbed at her ankle area and was writhing in pain. After she was helped back to the locker room by the Aces coaching staff, she returned to the bench under her own power but was unable to play the remainder of the game.
There has been no word of the severity of the injury, but Martin returning to the sideline is a good sign.
A’ja Wilson spoke on Martin and her injury after the game. Wilson used one word to describe the former Iowa Hawkeyes star: “Sister.”
“I will do all it takes to look after my rookie. Perhaps it’s a knee scrape. It may mean anything, like we’ll always look out for her since she’s one of us. We call her our sister,” Wilson remarked.
Martin quickly won many fans after the Aces picked her in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft. Martin achieved a prominent part in the Aces rotation in spite of her modest expectations. In a game, she averages 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
