“I’m Not Crying”: A’ja Wilson, Lisa Leslie, and More React to Simone Biles and Team USA’s Gymnastic Glory at the Paris Olympics

Simone Biles had said during the US Olympic trials last month, “This is definitely our redemption tour,” in reference to the team’s loss to silver in Tokyo. Then Serena Williams, Jason Kelce, Michael Phelps, and thousands of others saw it on July 30. The legendary gymnastics athlete, 27, who was observed hobbling the day before, overcame the discomfort to lead Team USA to a gold medal and reach a personal record. Not everyone in the arena was as boisterous with delight as she was.

Paige Bueckers, a great player for UConn, expressed the enthusiasm of millions by writing, “I’m in awe.” These women are incredible. They’re all goated! To think I’m not even capable of a cartwheel!” The squad was buzzing with anticipation, especially Simone Biles, who was making a reappearance under watchful eyes.

With a total of 171.296 points, the team consisting of Hezly Rivera, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Simone Biles, and Jade Carey won the team gold. “I believe that after Tokyo, we all had something to prove. And that’s exactly what we did tonight,” Biles repeated.

Reaction Details: Do you think Simone Biles and A’ja Wilson will get together? React!

With eight medals, the renowned gymnast became the most decorated American Olympian gymnast in history. There have been two bronze, one silver, and five gold ones. The three-time Olympian competed on all apparatuses for the final, despite suffering from a stiff calf on Sunday. Her best score was 14.900 on vault, thanks to the Yurchenko double pike.

The two-time Olympian Jordan Chiles competed in all four events. With the exception of the vault, Suni Lee, the current Olympic all-around champion, adorned everything. Carey, who is reportedly unwell, paid $14,800 for the vault. The USA led by over six points thanks to their combined efforts. Italy placed third for silver, and Brazil for bronze, with scores of 165.494 and 164.497, respectively.

It was so thrilling. We enjoyed ourselves. In another case, Biles continued, “We just did our gymnastics and enjoyed each other’s time out there.” The city was under a heat wave warning, with temperatures reaching 35°C (95°F) or higher, so things weren’t exactly easy for the athletes. Nevertheless, Biles went on to eclipse the illustrious Shannon Miller with seven Olympic medals (2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze).

The WNBA family joined in on the festivities of the momentous night with tears and joy.

Dawn Staley, A’ja Wilson, and others commend the Golden Achievement.

Tuesday at the Bercy Arena was the fourth gold medal for the US women’s gymnastics team at the Olympics. It was a touching scene following their Tokyo silver medal performance and Biles’ withdrawal due to twisties. Lisa Leslie, a four-time Olympic gold medallist in basketball, wrote, “I’m not crying… you’re crying!” with obvious tears welling up in her eyes. Best wishes to the ladies of @USAGym Outstanding.

After their victorious moment, Simone Biles announced the name of their team: F.A.A.F.O. She went on, “around and find out,” beeping the first word. There’s no denying that the camaraderie on exhibit is drawing attention. Olympic torch bearer Dawn Staley wished the squad well, saying, “Congrats girls! We are all proud of you! You guys are HER! And I adore it
