‘Jorge Martín feels it’s time to move on; he has confidence in his riding’ – Mick Doohan

Jorge Martín did not secure a spot in Ducati’s factory team for the 2025 MotoGP season, so he decided to take a new direction in his career by moving to Aprilia.

The Noale manufacturer has had its ups and downs. It has shown potential to fight for podiums and victories but not consistently – one of the uncertainties Martín will have to face and work to rectify in 2025.

Mick Doohan believes that the Spaniard felt it was the right moment to take this step, wanting to be a factory rider, despite the inconsistent performance that Aprilia still exhibits:

    – For one reason or another, Aprilia seems a bit inconsistent, but when it works, it seems to work very well. So, I’m sure that as a young rider wanting to be with a factory team, and although Pramac has been very good to him, he feels it’s time to move on. He has confidence in his riding, so let’s hope he takes Aprilia a bit further forward.
