Joy Breaks Out at Rogers Place as Edmonton Oilers Superstar Connor McDavid Announces ‘I’m Not Going Anywhere’ in a Stunning, Heartfelt Commitment to Return for the 2025–2026 NHL Season, Sparking Celebration Among Fans and a Wave of Confidence as Coach Kris Knoblauch Promises a New Era of Glory for Oil Country

EDMONTON — The atmosphere at Rogers Place was electric today as Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid sent shockwaves through the hockey world with a joyful declaration that has Oil Country buzzing with excitement: *“I’m not going anywhere.”*

The three-time Hart Trophy winner and face of the franchise announced he will be returning to the Edmonton Oilers for the 2025–2026 NHL season, putting to rest weeks of speculation about his future. Standing in front of a crowd of passionate fans and reporters, McDavid’s smile said it all as he confidently affirmed his commitment to the team, city, and vision that has fueled his career since 2015.

“I love this city, I love this team, and I love our fans,” McDavid said. “We’ve built something really special here, and I believe in where we’re going. The job’s not done. I’m not going anywhere.”

Fans erupted in cheers across Alberta and beyond, lighting up social media with hashtags like #McDavidStays and #OilersForever. Many fans flooded downtown Edmonton wearing blue and orange, waving flags, and holding up homemade signs expressing gratitude and hope for a championship run next season.

Coach Kris Knoblauch, who took over mid-season in 2023 and led the team to one of its strongest stretches in years, was equally ecstatic during the press conference.

“This is more than just a signing—it’s a message,” Knoblauch said. “Connor’s belief in this team lifts everyone. He’s our leader, and his return means we are coming back stronger, faster, and hungrier. Expect big things from this group.”

McDavid’s decision to remain with the team solidifies a foundation of leadership that fans and analysts agree is vital to Edmonton’s future success. The team has been on the cusp of glory in recent years, and with McDavid recommitting, many believe the Stanley Cup could soon be within reach.

For now, fans are savoring the moment—and so is McDavid.

“This city has given me everything,” he said. “It’s time to give them a reason to believe we’re going all the way.”
