Leslie Frazier Reflects: “Lucky to Coach the Vikings, Unforgettable Moments”

Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier recently opened up about his time leading the team, sharing heartfelt reflections that have resonated deeply with fans and players alike. In a candid interview during a leadership conference in Minneapolis, Frazier expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to coach one of the NFL’s most storied franchises.

“I was lucky—truly lucky—to coach the Minnesota Vikings,” Frazier said. “The memories I made, the players I coached, the fans, the city… it’s something I’ll never forget.”

Frazier, who served as the Vikings’ head coach from 2010 to 2013 after a stint as defensive coordinator, guided the team to a playoff appearance in the 2012 season and was widely respected for his calm demeanor and leadership style. Known for his player-first approach, Frazier earned the admiration of the locker room during both successful and challenging seasons.

Among his most memorable moments was the Vikings’ improbable playoff run in 2012, powered by an MVP-caliber performance from Adrian Peterson, who rushed for over 2,000 yards that year. Frazier recalled the atmosphere, the grind, and the unity of that team with emotion in his voice.

“It wasn’t just football—it was family,” he said. “There are moments from that run that still give me goosebumps.”

Though his tenure ended in 2013, Frazier has remained a respected figure in football circles, later serving as a defensive coordinator and assistant coach with other NFL teams. Still, he maintains a special connection to the Twin Cities and the Vikings organization.

As the Vikings look to the future under new leadership, Frazier’s words serve as a reminder of the heart, humility, and resilience that defined his years in Minnesota—and why fans still hold him in such high regard.
