To be a fly on the wall in that room! World No. 1 Iga Swiatek had a Grand Slam-worthy meetup with Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf this week at the Cincinnati Open.
“Just two legends and a random girl in the middle,” the Pole wrote when she shared the snapshot on her X, formerly Twitter, account on Thursday.
The collection of trophies for the trio, beginning with their 35 combined Grand Slam singles titles, is staggering. But Swiatek hopes to match an accomplishement earned by only one member of the power couple in winning in Ohio.
Agassi won Cincinnati in singles three times and in doubles once, with a women’s tournament not held in all but one of Graf’s peak years. (The tournament was on hiatus in the WTA calendar from 1974-87, and again from 1989-2004.) But Agassi was among the stars on hand for this year’s edition as the tournament, which last year reaffirmed its commitment to staying in the Midwest, is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
