Josh Heupel and the Vols strike gold in-state, land commitment from elite QB George MacIntyre.

The junior at Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy talks about how Tennessee became a key factor, what he liked about Heupel and the school, and what Knoxville is getting from the elite athlete who opted to stay home rather than play in Alabama, among other states, in an interview with 247Sports. George MacIntyre, the No. 2 signal-caller in the Top247 2025 Player Rankings and the No. 9 prospect overall, returned to the Tennessee campus on Saturday and caused a little agitation in the Vols receivers room, 48 hours before he announced his college decision.

Players on the squad were telling the staff, “make sure you get that guy,” according to a source on campus who spoke with 247Sports. They did on Monday Head coach Josh Heupel and his staff had put up no shortage of effort in that pursuit. When it came time to make his college choice, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite five-star recruit made his announcement in front of a crowded gymnasium while strolling into the ceremony to AC/DC’s Thunderstruck.

MacIntyre described the atmosphere as the “craziest I’ve ever been in” at the time. A portion of one of the goalposts that the students tore down made it all the way outside the stadium to the Tennessee River. “As a native of the state, it’s evident that UT has returned.” MacIntyre now wishes to assist in raising it to a new level.
