Sadly:Adolis García has terminated his contract with Rangers worth $20.25 million.

To avoid arbitration, ALCS MVP Adolis García and the Rangers reach a $14 million, two-year pact.

The World Series winners and the MVP of the AL Championship Series, Adolis García, reached an agreement on Thursday to avoid a salary arbitration hearing by signing a $14 million, two-year contract that may be worth up to $20.25 million.

As we get ready for the start of spring training, we are excited to have this addressed because he has been a very significant part of our team over the last few years, general manager Chris Young said.

This season, García’s base salary is $4.75 million. His $9.25 million compensation in 2025 could go up to $15.5 million, a maximum of $6.25 million, based on multiple salary escalators.

For this year, he would receive a salary rise of $250,000 for 400 plate appearances, $1 million for 500, and $1.25 million for 600. He would receive $750,000 for being on the second team or $1 million for being on the first team if he was selected for the All-MLB team. If he places among the top 20 in the MVP voting, he will receive $1.75 million for placing 16–20, $2.5 million for placing 11–15, $3 million for placing 6–10, $3.75 million for placing 4–5, $4.75 million for placing 3rd, $5.5 million for placing 2nd, and $6.25 million for placing first. Only the highest value gained would be applied if he activated multiple escalators.

For the only Rangers player eligible for salary arbitration who was unable to come to an agreement prior to the exchange of proposed wages last month, a hearing was set for this Thursday in Scottsdale, Arizona. Without the agreement, García would have been qualified for arbitration once more the following winter.

The two-time All-Star slugger was eligible for arbitration for the first time. Last October, he established an MLB postseason record with 22 RBIs. Texas had offered $5 million, but he had asked for $6.9 million. Of the 23 players in the league that exchanged pay bids with their teams, that was the biggest difference.

Two weeks prior to the team’s annual awards banquet, García had made it clear through a translator that he was ready for a hearing. At that time, Young had reported that he had a positive conversation with García and his delegates, and he had been inspired by them.
